The Diocese is seeking a Communications/Social media Specialist:

SUMMARY: To assist the Director of Communications with overall communications duties with a specialization in developing and implementing the social media strategy for the diocese

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Work with the Director of Communications in carrying out the annual objectives of the office under the direction of the Bishop of Syracuse

2) Develop and maintain plan/strategy for diocesan internet presence to include social media, web and management of online groups

3) Work with diocesan departments to enhance their evangelization efforts through internet presence

4) Monitor and respond to all social media interactions

5) Assess new standards, technologies and trends and formulate plans for future enhancements to social media strategies

6) Perform continuous enhancements and modifications to blogs, websites and social media outlets

7) Provide metrics of traffic statistics, reports and future blog comment feedback to appropriate areas

8) Perform other duties as assigned

 QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledge of the Catholic Church

• Knowledge and experience with Content Management Systems, Social Media Platforms, Photshop, Word, Powerpoint, Excel

• Knowledge of new media strategies and online communications

• Working knowledge of and experience with online measurement platforms (Google Analytics, Youtube Insights, Facebook Insights)

• Excellent writing and presentation skills

• Press relations experience a plus

• Strong administrative and organizational skills

• Strong interpersonal skills

 EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors Degree in Communication and/or Digital/Online Journalism

2 or more years with digital communications

The Diocese is seeking a Technical Specialist II Server Administrator:

SUMMARY: This position maintains computing environment by identifying server requirements; installing upgrades; maintaining backup readiness; monitoring server performance. This position is the main back up to the IT Director, therefore must be able to think independently and have a high level of customer service and communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 1.  Maintains server performance by performing monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting server problems; escalating problems to 3rd party support as needed.

2. Prepares users by conducting ad hoc training for specific server related tasks; providing references and support.

3. Upgrades servers by conferring with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements per change management pipeline rules.

4. Provisions new servers and storage based on approved plans.

5. Creates and Maintains desktop imaging library

6. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in provided training; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

7. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential. Identifies potential threats and reports, recommends action steps to IT Director.

8. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

9. Facilitates user access and new user provisioning for Network, Voice and Data in concert with IT Director.

10. (Secondary) Provides overlapping coverage and assistance for Tech Specialist I as needed.

11. (Secondary) Establishes server and network specifications in concert with IT Director by conferring with users and 3rd party vendors; analyzing expected load, access, information, and security requirements.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Windows Server Administration including Active Directory and Group Policy, LAN Knowledge, Problem Solving, Capacity Planning, Multi-tasking, Quality Focus, Coordination, Technical Understanding, Quick Study, Technical Zeal, Strong Interpersonal Communications and ability to work under pressure.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor of Science in MIS or Associate Degree with seven years of experience.

 

The Diocese is seeking (3) regional coordinator Youth and Young Adult Ministry:

SUMMARY: Provides coordination of youth ministry support services to parishes in the region. Works with the Office of Youth & Young Adult Ministry staff to support and develop comprehensive youth ministry in parishes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conduct regular visits to parishes to assess youth ministry needs and determine support services required for sustainable youth ministry in each individual parish in the region.

2. Conducts individual consultations with pastors and youth ministry leaders in parishes

3. Maintains database for parishes and youth ministry leaders in the region.

4. Plan and organize monthly youth ministry meetings hosted in parishes in the region

5. Assists in planning annual diocesan youth events hosted within the region and diocese.

6. Attend monthly staff meetings and works with staff on annual calendar and youth ministry support services for the diocese

7. Assist Director in reviewing and maintaining department budget for program areas under their supervision.

 QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledge of Catholic Youth Ministry models and methods

• Ability to speak to groups effectively

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Strong computer skills (Familiarity with Social Media and cloud based software preferred: CMS, Project Management, etc.)

• Demonstrated knowledge of issues affecting youth and families

• Valid NYS driver’s license and use of registered and insured vehicle

• Willingness to travel throughout the Diocese

• Current certification in diocesan child and youth protection program

• Active member of the Roman Catholic faith community and in good standing

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma (Associates Degree preferred)

3 years’ experience in the field of parish youth ministry

The Diocese is seeking a person to serve as Program Coordinator of Evangelization- Part-time Position.

SUMMARY: Promote understanding of evangelization in its broadest scope and help to implement diocesan goals of evangelization as set forth by the Bishop using appropriate Church documents as foundation resources. Operate within a team context and engage in significant ministry collaboration to deliver resources and services to parishes, organizations, and diocesan departments. . Coordinate the planning & execution of all initiatives, including events, held by Office of Evangelization.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as office’s first point of contact for internal and external individuals.

• Streamline and manage event programming, logistics, promotion and registration.

• Coordinate meetings, training sessions and projects.

• Assist with the development of media content and marketing collateral

• Develop relationships with parishes to obtain key information and deliver quality services

• Develop and maintain database

 QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 • A Catholic in good standing, who understands and supports the mission of the Church and of the Diocese of Syracuse

• A willingness to be a leader in the Evangelization effort of the Church, including being a witness to one’s own relationship with Christ

• Ability to anticipate needs, establish priorities, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate discretion, project a positive attitude and exercise a high level of professionalism.

• Strong skills in organizing, multi-tasking and following through in a busy, changing environment with little direct supervision.

• Excellent relationship-building skills with a focus on service to others; high level of energy, creativity and humor; ability to establish trust and work collaboratively.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Administrative or project management skills a plus.

• Experience working with the public and handling issues/complaints in a diplomatic manner.

• Ability to be detail oriented, and to work independently.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (and/or equivalent) software; knowledge and experience in web development/management and/or technology and catechesis a plus.

• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential, time-sensitive and critical matters using good judgment, tact, respect and discretion.

• Flexibility in work hours, to accommodate the need to be available for programming on evenings and weekends when necessary.
