In 2008, the Diocese announced the receipt of an extremely generous bequest from Robert and Catherine McDevitt. They directed the funds support specific ministries as well as the purposes, and objectives of the HOPE Appeal.
These funds support Evangelization and Food Pantry programs in our parishes. All parishes of the Diocese of Syracuse that meet or exceed their HOPE Appeal goal as recorded in the final HOPE Appeal report are eligible to apply for a McDevitt Grant in support of Evangelization programs in Youth, Young Adult, and/or Family Life. Grants are requested to support creative, innovative, and sustainable approaches to the continuing evangelization for our young people and families.
Parishes are also eligible to apply for a McDevitt Grant to in support of a parish operated Food Pantry. The funds will support the purchase of food items. The funds are not intended for support capital needs, employee compensation, or other overhead costs.
