Make A gift of Stock

For electronic transfer of stock, instruct your broker to include your name and the ministry you would like to support. To ensure you have all the correct information, please complete the stock transfer request letter.

 Make a gift from your IRA 
 If you are 70.5 years or older, you may be able to give an amount (up to $100,000) each year from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) directly to the Foundation without having to pay taxes on the money.  This is a popular form of giving that is sometimes referred to as the IRA charitable rollover, or the qualified charitable distribution (QCD). When you turn 73, this gift may begin counting toward your required minimum distribution (RMD).
 
 To qualify as a tax-free donation, your disbursement must come directly from the administrator of your IRA to the Foundation. You cannot receive the funds first.  Please contact the administrator of your IRA with any tax or account-specific questions.
 
 To make a gift from your IRA, please follow these steps:
 

1. Seek the advice of your financial or legal advisor if necessary.
2. Determine the gift you would like to give.
3. Contact Beth Hoey, Executive Director of the Foundation of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse Inc., at (315) 472-8447 or [email protected] to inform us of your intended gift including the amount of the gift and your parish.
4. Ask your IRA administrator to send a check from your account to the Foundation directly to the address below. Please include your name in the memo of the check and note the ministry you would like to support.  Click here for a IRA Distribution Request Letter for you to send to your financial advisor.

 Your IRA Administrator will need this information:

 Make a parish, school or ministry the beneficiary of your IRA
 Your IRA requires a beneficiary upon your death. You can also make the Foundation the beneficiary of your IRA with restrictions to benefit the ministry of your choice. Make a Gift in Your Will 

A gift from your will, called a bequest, can leave a legacy of your support to your parish, school, HOPE Appeal or a diocesan ministry. With all major financial decisions, we encourage you to meet with your attorney and financial advisor to create a plan that meets your needs.
There are 3 common ways to make a bequest:

1. A percentage bequest gives a stated percentage of your estate’s assets.
2. A residual bequest gives the remainder of your estate, all or a percentage, after all other debts, taxes and expenses are paid. 
3. A fixed amount bequest gives a specific dollar amount for the bequest.
