Rev. Richard P. Prior, Jr. is the pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Vestal and Our Lady of Good Counsel in Endicott. Previously, he served as the pastor at Holy Family in Syracuse and Sacred Heart in Cicero. Father Prior also held the role of Parochial Vicar at St. Matthew’s Church in East Syracuse and Holy Family in Syracuse.
A native of St. Daniel’s Church in Apalachin, Father Prior attended Tioga Hill Elementary School and Vestal High School. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a bachelor’s degree in science after five years of study. Father Prior then served six years in the U.S. Army, earning the rank of Captain before being honorably discharged. He went on to study at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland, and was ordained a priest in 2001.
