Most Rev. Douglas J. Lucia is proud to announce that an independent audit determined the diocese was in full compliance with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People’s data collection requirements for the 2020 - 2021 audit period.
The diocese has been found in compliance every year since the passing of the Charter in 2002, which addresses allegations of sexual abuse of minors by Catholic clergy and gives guidelines for reconciliation, healing, accountability, and prevention of future acts of abuse.
This achievement demonstrates the unwavering commitment and dedication of our clergy, members of religious orders, diocesan/parish/school/agency employees, and volunteers to safeguard our children, young people, and vulnerable adults from sexual abuse. Our compassionate outreach to those affected by sexual abuse remains an enduring commitment.
The Diocese of Syracuse would like to thank all of its clergy, members of religious orders, diocesan/parish/school/agency employees, and volunteers for their ongoing commitment and dedication to ensuring the safety of our most vulnerable.
