This year, the Diocese of Syracuse celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Safe Environment and Victim Assistance Programs. The programs success in protecting our children, young people, and vulnerable adults is due to the combined strength of child sexual abuse prevention training, the Child and Youth Protection Policy, and the Diocesan Code of Conduct.
Safe Environment Week is a time to acknowledge our clergy, members of religious orders, diocesan employees, volunteers, and so many others in the community who work tirelessly together toward a common goal: to prevent sexual abuse not only in our parishes, schools, or agencies but also in our neighborhoods and communities.
On behalf of Most Rev. Douglas J. Lucia, the Office of Safe Environment staff, and the Diocesan Safe Environment Committee, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who remain steadfast in their commitment and vigilance in protecting our children, young people, and vulnerable adults from harm.
To promote Safe Environment Week, students across the diocese, including our Catholic Schools and Faith Formation students are invited to display their creativity by participating in our coloring contest: #JesusLovesMe. Click here for more information.
